Lovely meeting in Mgeno

We left for the village of Mgeno around 10:30 in the morning to meet the sponsored children. The landscape along the way was very green and beautiful. We traveled toward Tanzania, a newly build road where we avoided the traffic going between Mombasa and Nairobi.

Once in Mgeno, we met with home base care-woman Hanna, a very nice woman we have met once before. She welcomed us into their red church where the sponsored children and their caretakers waited for us. Colorful garlands were hanging inside the church,  making it feel cosy. Hanna held a type of meeting they call “Tablebank” here. It works a bit like a bank, where people in the village can loan money for the things they need. After some song and presentations, we were given the chance to get to know the kids and how they were doing. When we were heading back, Esther, one of the children, traveled with us in the car. A cute little girl who lives a little bit outside of Mgeno. She was very curious about us and liked to play with Linnea’s hair.

It was really fun to meet all the children in Mgeno and their caretakers. We feel so welcomed here and we are delighted to be able to take part in everything we have experienced here in Kenya.
