Fruitful discussions

The trip to Kenya was long but everything went well. The group was at the airport around five in the morning and checked into the hotel in Nairobi a little after midnight.
Today we met the architect who will help us with the construction on the farm. A bishop from the church and a German missionary with a lot of construction experience also attended the meeting.
The architect is very pleased with the foundation that we previously presented. He will now adapt the drawings and ideas to fit Kenyan measurements and guidelines.
We have been promised support from the church headquarters during the ongoing planning process. We will receive assistance with the bidding process and continual monitoring of construction when it starts. The blueprints, building permits, and other required permits should be finished in about six months and the estimated building time is around a year. In other words, a possible opening in autumn 2013 – if everything goes as planned.
Today’s meeting took place in the new building at Pangani Lutheran Children Centre, located in Ongata Rongai, just outside Nairobi. The building is the model for the project team’s plans and it was nice to see the building in reality. I think that we were all pleasantly surprised at the quality and design.

All is well so far. Tomorrow brings a new study visit before we get to Voi sometime during the evening.
