Poultry Project in Kisemenyi

The caretakers for the orphans in the town of Kisemenyi just outside of Voi have started a little poultry project. They meet every month and everyone brings a little change (15 ksh) to add to the common fund. When there is enough money, they buy a chicken and give it to one person in the group.
A chicken costs just under 20 kronor (250 ksh) and that is more than what most can afford.
Every caretaker currently has at least one chicken. That means they can either eat chicken or eggs in the future, or even have more chickens over time. Thus helping to improve their living conditions somewhat.
At the same time, the project helps the women get to know each other and helps strengthen them as a group so they can advise and support to one another.
